About the college

Rajalakshmi Engineering College was established in the year 1997 under the aegis of Rajalakshmi Educational Trust whose members have consummate experience in the fields of education and industry. The vision of the college is to be an institution of excellence in Engineering, Technology and Management Education and Research; and to provide competent and ethical professionals with a concern for the society. REC has placed itself as a research focused technical institution with a passion for making students employable to the industry. Ever since its inception in the year 1997, the institution has taken giant strides towards differentiating itself by focusing on pursuit of Innovation and Research by its faculty and students. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council has re-accredited the college with 'A' grade.

About the department

The Department of Biotechnology was started in the year 2002 with a mission to bring a unique combination of skills and wide range of scientific disciplines. The department with its independent research laboratories and state of the art equipment, constantly strives to fulfill the scientific aspirations of its students. The department also offers M.Tech and MS (by research) and PhD in Biotechnology to provide a platform for the students to elevate their academic standards. the department also has adopted a nearby village for providing urban amenities in rural areas by applying biotechnological approaches.

Besides this, the department has its own Society of Biotechnologists, where various technical events are conducted, a Journal club, where students are trained to improve their research and also publishes Biosnippets, a monthly newsletter to enlighten the students regarding the emerging trends in the field of Biotechnology. Workshops are organised regularly to bridge the gap between academia and industry.

About the conference

Even before the times of Hippocrates, healthcare and have been as much a part of our existence as food and security. By the turn of the last century, discovery of penicillin, development of recombinant insulin, and more recently car-T therapy against cancer highlight the important role Biotechnology has played in pushing the frontiers of healthcare.

SWASTHYA wishes to provide a platform where academicians, industrialists, doctors, researchers and students form all over India will discuss recent advances and their research solutions to widen global knowledge in medicine, diagnostics, trauma response, environmental toxicology, big data analytics and other computational approaches to solve vexing questions in health sector. We welcome everyone to present their ideas and also to discuss the potential growth in the sector in the upcoming years.
